The Adecco Group Launches «Working On You» to Address Youth Unemployment in Spain
According to the latest Active Population Survey, unemployment among those under 30 has risen by 16,600 people, reaching 838,900 unemployed. The unemployment rate rose to 22.61% in the first quarter of 2023, 0.37 points more than the previous quarter.
For those under 25, the situation is even worse. Youth unemployment in Spain reached 30%, the second-highest in the OECD and the first in the European Union. However, it may seem paradoxical that 8 out of 10 companies have difficulty filling their job vacancies, and 10% of available job vacancies remain unfilled.
In response to this social issue, The Adecco Group, a leading HR management company, has launched «Working On You,» an initiative that brings together all the projects it develops for and with Generation Z to bring the world of work and young people together.
«Working On You» is a pioneering project aimed at young people up to 30 years old, promoting training and employment projects in collaboration with companies and universities to address this current social problem and improve the youth-job relationship.
In fact, Adecco Group’s commitment to promoting youth employment is already part of its DNA, and they have many ongoing projects aimed at training and guiding young people in their job search. «Working On You» now brings together the more than 30 initiatives belonging to the different brands of the Group: Adecco, Adecco Foundation, Akkodis, LHH, plus all the new ones developed in collaboration with other companies such as Iberdrola, Microsoft, IAMCP, Abanca, Cobega, Dorna, Greenalia, Televés, Fiact Seguros or Veritas that offer webinars, internships, training, specific programs, scholarships, etc. «Working On You» aims to involve as many companies as possible in this initiative.
The Adecco Group’s president, Iker Barricat, said, «In Spain, youth unemployment is a significant concern, and it is our duty to address this challenge proactively. Youth unemployment can have devastating consequences, both individual and societal. It limits young people’s access to personal and professional development opportunities and can generate demotivation, lack of confidence, and inequality. Adecco Group is fully aware of the importance of helping young people find their first job, develop a professional career, and ensure a successful job future. Young people represent the future of our society and economy. They are an immense source of talent, energy, and fresh ideas that drive innovation and growth. That’s why we are committed to supporting young people in their transition to the job market. We work closely with other organizations to foster youth employment creation, providing training opportunities, internship programs, and professional advice.»
«Developing initiatives like ‘Working On You’ will improve the employability of young people, providing them with the skills and competencies needed to tackle the challenges of the current and future job market. We are committed to providing them with the tools and resources they need to stand out in the job market. Youth unemployment cannot be ignored, and as a company, we assume the responsibility to drive significant changes in this area. We work in collaboration with governments, educational institutions, and organizations to provide them with the necessary support to reach their full potential and contribute to the sustainable growth and development of our society. Together, we can build a better future for everyone,» added Barricat.
The Adecco Group wants to continue fostering youth talent and remains committed to its focus on future professionals through this initiative.
