Schneider Electric, Capgemini, and Qualcomm Technologies have collaborated to create an automated 5G-enabled lifting solution, which is the first of its kind. The solution makes use of 5G private network technology to replace wired connections with wireless connections, streamlining and optimising digital technology implementation in industrial infrastructures. Elevators play a crucial role in supply chains and manufacturing operations across industries such as aviation, automotive, steel manufacturing, and transportation. Automated lifting systems increase productivity, safety, and performance of operations, but they require fast response times, high precision, and reliability with 24/7 availability. 5G’s low latency and high reliability allow the replacement of fibre cables in remote control operations while simplifying network complexity and reducing cables. Capgemini has closely worked with Schneider Electric to design an optimised 5G end-to-end solution and identify business outcomes in Schneider Electric’s industrial use case. Qualcomm has provided integration support based on the latest Qualcomm Technologies innovations and helped Schneider Electric integrate 5G with their use cases to characterise and optimise the system, while Schneider Electric brings industrial automation expertise. The companies aim to reduce complexity, speed up time to market, and improve KPIs for automated lifting customers.
