Goldflare Exploration Inc. (TSXV: GOFL) has announced the results of its drilling program on the Goldfields property, a 100% owned property in Quebec. The program aimed to validate historical laws and understand the geometry of known mineralization. The property contains a high density of historically drilled gold samples and is located on the Porcupine-Destor fault extension, about 35 km northeast of Rouyn-Noranda. One of the drill holes, AIG-23-13, returned a high-grade gold intercept of 15.36 g/t over 7.05 meters, including an interval of 103.86 g/t over 1 meter. The mineralization is in the form of free gold hosted in an altered and fractured alkaline intrusion. The gold particles are visible in millimeter-sized grains and are concentrated in groups. The intercept was found just below the cover layer at a vertical depth of approximately 20 meters to the southwest boundary of the historical drilling coverage, suggesting potential for further exploration laterally and at depth along a north-south axis.
Company President and CEO, Ghislain Morin, commented on the unexpected result, stating that it is the highest documented gold result to date on the property. The company is considering whether this type of result could be part of a particular enrichment axis in the known mineralization zone, which may increase the overall average gold grade at Goldfields. Goldflare plans to re-evaluate its interpretation and plan for a new round of drilling.
The drilling program consisted of seven holes totaling 1,816 meters. Three holes have been completed and returned results. The company has received partial results for two additional holes and is waiting for results on the last two holes. The full results of the three completed drill holes are available on the company website, and the interpretation of AIG-23-13’s results will not be affected by any future results.
The company used a GPS Garmin to record the drilling positions with a 3-meter precision. An instrument Reflex EZ-TRAC was used to trace the drilling. Sample collection and description were carried out on the property, and the samples were delivered to Laboratoire Expert inc. in Rouyn-Noranda for analysis. The gold was analyzed by fire assay with lead collection on a 30-gram sub-sample taken from a 250-gram pulverized fraction. The analyzed value is obtained by a water regia dissolution procedure and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) dosage for results less than 3 g/t. Results above 3 g/t are re-analyzed and determined by gravimetry.
The Goldfields property is located adjacent to Iamgold Corporation’s Fayolle zone project, which is currently under development, about 700 meters east of Goldflare’s drilling program.
