AleaSoft Energy Forecasting CEO Antonio Delgado Rigal was recently interviewed by El Periódico de la Energía director Ramón Roca. The interview covered the European Commission’s proposed reform of the electricity market, and Delgado Rigal’s views on current issues in the energy sector. According to Delgado Rigal, the proposals are only «improvements» to the market, and not an actual reform, as the market still operates under a marginalist framework. He views the proposals positively, as they will incentivise renewable generation and reduce prices for consumers, but stresses the importance of maintaining a predictable, free market and not intervening in prices. Delgado Rigal also discusses the recent fall in gas prices, the future of renewable energy subsidy models, and the potential for curtailment of renewables.
