Txema Fernández, the local coordinator of United Left (IU) in Toledo and current spokesperson for the coalition of IU-Podemos in the City Council of the regional capital, will lead the candidacy of the joint coalition named Unidas-IU-Podemos in the upcoming municipal elections in May with the aim of achieving 13 seats, which would lead to an absolute majority in the Corporation. The program will focus on citizens and place «life at the center». The candidate explained during the presentation of the agreement that the list aims to prioritize policies over politicians, focusing on «truly social policies,» with the city’s residents at the core of the agenda. He noted that the programs will cover public services, housing, and youth. Irene Arcalá, second in the coalition’s list, also emphasized the coalition’s commitment to feminism, equality, and youth policies. In terms of aspirations, Fernández highlights that the coalition aims to obtain an absolute majority of 13 councilors to govern the council.

José Manuel Mariscal, a member of the coalition and responsible for the agreement framework with IU, noted that they have been in contact with Más País, but the latter declined the invitation to join the coalition. The program consists of members agreeing to the development and fulfillment of the policies laid out in their electoral platform. Regarding decision-making processes such as strategic planning and council meetings, consensus will be the primary route, and in cases of voting, the tiebreaker vote will depend on the position held by the person within the group. The coalition deems that the ideological agreement will be the joining force, and all decisions regarding the candidature must happen democratically with a joint presentation of policies for approval.
