Tragsa Group Awards Funding to Eleven Projects in Rural Areas

Tragsa Group has selected eleven projects under the II edition of ‘Solidarios Nacionales’, aimed at promoting economic and social development in rural areas. These projects focus on community self-management, care for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), ecological agriculture, population decline, mother’s work-life balance, and animal species preservation.

Tragsa Group is a public enterprise committed to supporting rural development projects throughout Spain. In the first edition of ‘Solidarios Nacionales’, Tragsa received 20 applications from non-profit entities supported by Tragsa personnel, and funded three complete projects and one in part. This year, Tragsa received 34 applications, a 70% increase from last year. Due to the increased interested, Tragsa extended their budget allocation and awarded funding to eleven projects in seven autonomous communities.

One of the awarded projects centers around ecological agriculture. Another project is focused on the development of a mobile application to facilitate self-management among citizens, specifically in El Royo (Soria). In Esparragoza de Lares (Badajoz), Tragsa will support the installation of a greenhouse and a weather station in a school.

Additionally, Tragsa will fund three physiotherapy sessions and three speech therapy sessions per month to 55 ALS patients spread across different municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha. The group will also provide specialized care for individuals with acquired brain damage and their families in the rural areas of Galicia.

Other projects awarded include lanotherapy workshops for seniors in Aldeanueva del Camino (Cáceres), where participants knit stories; conservation of biodiversity through the installation and maintenance of bat and swift colonies in Valladolid; restoration of cultural heritage and conservation of biodiversity in Sierra Morena in Jaén; and promotion of the rural school as an antidote to declining population in Castellón and Valencia, where Tragsa will establish beekeeping, transparent bee hives, and school gardens.

Finally, Tragsa awarded funding to San Román de Cameros in La Rioja province to facilitate childcare for rural mothers, which provides meals, education support, playtime, and transportation.

The ‘Solidarios Nacionales’ initiative is a reflection of Tragsa’s commitment to promoting rural development in Spain, particularly through supporting communities in need. This year, Tragsa has shown their dedication to rural development by awarding funding to these diverse projects.
