Manuel Novés, a veteran Valdepeñas athlete, has recently accomplished a new challenge, this time on a bicycle by travelling from Valdepeñas to Santiago de Compostela, a total of 2,200 km in just 24 days. Jesús Martín, the Mayor of Valdepeñas, received Novés on his return and praised the athlete for his constant challenge-seeking behaviour and inspiring example to younger generations. Being 69 years old, the Mayor considered Novés’ achievement as even more remarkable. Novés received a stamp from the city council as recognition of his journey, marking the list of towns he had passed through on his way back home. The athlete was pleased with his accomplishment and couldn’t help but make a joke about bringing rain to his hometown as it started raining right after reaching it.
