Rosario Jiménez, Susana Plasencia, Cristina Tirado, Ángeles Gracia and Sonia Pérez have denounced the discrimination and barriers that women still face every day in the Castilla-La Mancha region. The women, speaking at an event held in the Cortes regionales to mark International Women’s Day, described stories of sexual harassment, disrespect, ridicule and suffering, but also celebrated the progress that has been made towards gender equality. The women called for unity to continue the fight for gender equality in fields such as innovation, industry, engineering, construction, and new technologies. Women’s economic empowerment was also stressed as «essential for the economy of any country.»
