Toledo is preparing to celebrate Holy Week once again with various new events, including conferences on the Shroud of Turin and workshops to engage those with visual and hearing disabilities in the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. The city will follow a theme of “silence and solitude” during the celebrations following the pre-Easter speech from journalist and filmmaker Juan Manuel Cotelo. The event will cost €37,000, part of which comes from increased support of €12,500 from the local council. Parishes also donate a percentage of their gross profits to charity, while parties and other events are held to represent the cultural and religious significance of the holiday.
