During the day, 93 students between the ages of 14 and 16 participated, working with dynamics adapted to their age on basic concepts of sexual and gender diversity, identification of stereotypes and prejudices, prevention of LGTBQ+phobia, and promotion of empathy and coexistence. The program will continue on Monday, January 12 with four more sessions aimed at 68 students, completing a total of seven workshops benefiting 161 young people in the town.
Simón has also highlighted the role of the LGTBI Integral Care Service as a public service and as a mechanism for preventing hatred, within the objectives of the Law on Sexual Diversity and LGTBI Rights in Castilla-La Mancha. «One of its main objectives was to educate and raise awareness through education in order to have a society based on respect, coexistence, and equality, and above all, also to be able to detect more efficiently and effectively cases of bullying, isolation, discrimination, and LGTBQ+phobia, which are cases of hate towards people because of their identity or sexual orientation.»
The program is part of the strategy of the Department of Equality to guarantee safe, inclusive, and respectful educational environments for all individuals. The training actions of the LGTBI Integral Care Service also allow for raising awareness among strategic sectors such as education, health, and youth, social organizations, or the labor, social, and community sphere, consolidating the role of the service as a public reference in Castilla-La Mancha. Just in 2025, the training sessions of the LGTBI Integral Care Service reached more than 1,100 people directly and more than 2,500 indirectly, including students, teachers, and professionals from different fields.
With these trainings, the regional Government continues to move towards a more inclusive region, where diversity is lived with normality and where every child can grow up being who they are, freely and without fear.
